Springtime afternoon tea with artist and poet, Annette Kelsey
/The sun came out, and so did a delightful bunch of guests, as we launched our first ever Afternoon Tea with an Author in my Palm Beach Kitchen. I have hosted a few of these events over the years in my previous home, each time inviting a clever author to come and share their story in a relaxed and delicious way.
So, I was truly wrapped to see such enthusiasm recently, when tickets sold out for our Springtime Afternoon Tea with Artist & Poet Annette Kelsey. Here's a little snapshot for those of you who missed out this time round!
Freshly baked scones, my home made jams, cups of fragrant tea, sunshine, conversation, laughter, poetry and art were in abundance as we gathered to celebrate the launch of Annette's second book ' Tread Lightly'. Our thirty expectant guests were treated to a warm and vulnerable conversation, revealing Annette's journey of sharing her peace-filled poems and mesmerising art in print...AGAIN! Many were inspired and encouraged by Annette's creativity and bold decision to invest in writing a second book rather than adding a back deck to her lake side home. As her poems were read aloud to the audience, the consensus was that Annette has made the right decision to publish again and we are all so grateful that she did!
Buttermilk Date Scones, Classic Milk Scones and Spelt and Sweet Potato Scones were baked my me and served, loaded with fruit filled jams and dollops of cream, resting on colourful plates. New friends were made over a cuppa or a cordial and everyone left smiling with their signed copy of 'Tread Lightly'. Both Annette's books ('52' and 'Tread Lightly') and magnificent pieces of art, as well as my cookbooks
('Naked Food' and 'Our Delicious Adventure') and jars of my home made jams and relishes, were popular purchases from our friend Pam at the product table throughout the afternoon. Great gal you are Pam!
Huge thanks to all who joined us.
I will be hosting more 'Afternoon Tea with an Author' events soonish - so stay tuned x j
